Ahead of May’s General Election, 10,000 CAMRA members like you lobbied their election candidates urging them to support our beer and pub election pledges. As a result 1,150 candidates added their backing and 211 of them are now MPs!

We ask that you take part in the next stage of this campaign by lobbying your local MP for Cheltenham or Tewkesbury – and ask them to sign a Parliamentary Motion (EDM 107) in support of beer and pubs.

For this campaign we are launching brand new software which will allow our campaigning to be more streamlined and targeted than ever before. The template email we have suggested recognises whether your local MP supported our election campaign pledges. If your MP is unable to sign EDMs, our suggested email recognises that too – instead asking them to write to the Prime Minister David Cameron seeking his support.

Why is this important?

Strong support from MPs in the last Parliament helped us to deliver three successive cuts in beer duty, a Pubs Code and Adjudicator to protect tied licensees (in England and Wales) and planning protection for pubs listed as Assets of Community Value (England).

Our challenge over the next five years is to secure more Government support for real ale, cider and community pubs. With 29 pubs still closing every week, it’s crucial we keep up the political pressure. Let’s build on the excellent relationship CAMRA members like you developed with local MPs over the past five years!
