Ale Ambler’s Saturday Stagger @ Gloucester
Oct 2 @ 12:00 pm

To allow those members who can’t make the mid week ale ambles Veronica is organising a Saturday Stagger (pub crawl) to Gloucester on Saturday 2 October.

We will be starting off in the Docks area at the Brewhouse & Kitchen just after noon.  After that, we shall go to the new Taproom at Gloucester Brewery.  It only opens next week.  It is in the building adjacent to the old taproom .  Then we will visit the Turk’s Head, Angie’s, Fountain etc.  heading towards the Pelican (and just keeping our fingers crossed that it will be open).  Note:  Gloucester Brewery – card only; Turk’s Head – cash only.

For those joining me on the bus, we shall be getting the No. 10 bus (a nice bright yellow colour now) from the Promenade.  The bus leaves at 11.00 AMFor those coming by train or donkey, we will meet you at the Brewhouse & Kitchen around 12.00 noon.

Wednesday 8 December – Christmas Trip to Birmingham

We always enjoy this trip, starting off with a glass of Gluhwein in the Christmas Market and then going on to our favourite pubs.   I am looking at getting the 10.15 am train out and then the 6.30pm back.  At present the fare with a railcard is showing up as £18.65.  (You will all recall that it is always more expensive going to Brum. and nearer the time it goes up even more.)

Ale Amble – January 2022 @ Oxford
Jan 19 @ 10:10 am – 6:05 pm

First ale amble of 2022 takes place on Wednesday 19 January and visits our old favourite of Oxford

We will be getting the bus to Oxford – 853 – that leaves Royal Well at 10.10 (at present) .  For those who don’t like long bus journeys, there is now an alternative – train to the new Worcester Parkway and then change for Oxford. (Split ticketing at Worcestershire Parkway saves a few pounds)

Ale Amble – March 2022 @ Stourbridge
Mar 23 @ 9:45 am – 6:00 pm

The March ale amble takes place on Wednesday 23 March and will visit Stourbridge

This is at Paul’s request to celebrate his 21st birthday (again!!).  We all like Stourbridge so let’s all have fun. (Party hats and balloons are not compulsory).

We are getting the 9.45 am train from Cheltenham, going via Worcester Foregate Street where we change for Stourbridge Junction and there, you may recall, we get the little shuttle train to Stourbridge Town.  There appears to be a train back at 6 pm.    Just make sure you get tickets via Worcester to Stourbridge Town (not via Birmingham)..

We will meet in the Chequers Inn, 96 High Street, which is a Wetherspoons pub.

Note:  For those coming from out of town our train should arrive at 11.18

Saturday Stagger – Stirchley Mile @ Stirchley Mile
May 21 @ 10:59 am – 5:58 pm

The Ale Amblers will be making an outing to Stirchley on Saturday 21st May to do part of the well documented Stirchley Mile. This is an opportunity for those who can’t make the mid week Ambles to join in.

They will travel by train from Cheltenham to Bournville, departing Cheltenham on the 10.59 train arriving at 11.56 and returning from Bournville on the 17.58 train. Both journeys require a change at University.  Our first pub will be the Wildcat Tap, 1381-1383 Pershore Road.

The best deal for tickets is to purchase an Anytime Day Return for Cheltenham Spa to Worcestershire Parkway – £9.30 (£6.10 with a railcard) and an Off Peak Day Return for Worcestershire Parkway to Bournville – £10.60 (£6.95 with a railcard) (Do not purchase the cheaper £9.50 / £5.25 option as it does not allow the doubling back from University).
