In October Cheltenham Ale Amblers will be heading to Lichfield.
We are going on the 10.16 from Cheltenham to Lichfield (changing at Birmingham New Street) and coming back at 18.44 (changing at Birmingham University).
The November Ale Amble heads across the Severn to the border town of Chepstow.
We shall be getting the 10.45 train arriving at 11.26. . If you are coming from another area then we shall meet you in the Bell Hanger, (Wetherspoons), 9–10 St Mary Street (not far from the station). Our train arrives at 11.26 so we shall see you shortly after that. Norman from Cardiff/Bristol has just been to Chepstow and has kindly offered to guide us. I am aware that the micro pub (Queen’s Head) doesn’t open until 5 pm – however on prior notice we *MAY* be able to get it to open earlier. The train back will be 18.46 or 19.17 – I leave it to you.
In a repeat of last year’s festive trip, the Ale Amble for December will be visiting Birmingham. It will include a visit to The Christmas Market and a warming Gluhwein, before heading to our usual favourite pubs. Beerwise, we’ll start in Purecraft (30 Waterloo Street), followed by the Wellington where we will meet Keith from Birmingham CAMRA who will show us a new place.
We will be getting the 10.40 train (arriving at New Street at 11.25) and the 6.30 pm back. We can meet you in Birmingham if you choose another train. Note advance tickets are cheaper than day returns so savings can be made by buying in advance. Please contact Veronica for further details.
The January Ale Amble will head to Swindon.
The pub crawl is being organised by Richard (Secretary of Swindon CAMRA). There have been quite a few changes there since our last visit nearly 3 years ago.
We shall be getting the 10.58 direct train. It arrives at 11.56. If you are coming by bus (which arrives at approximately the same time) then we will meet you at the bus station. We will then get a bus to Old Town where they are a couple of new pubs and then we will work our way down the hill back to the station.
Trip to Great Winter Beer Festival in Birmingham (CAMRA Members and trade only until 5pm).
Train times to be confirmed.
Join our social secretary on a trip to Tewkesbury Winter Ale festival. FRIDAY 7th FEBRUARY
In February, by popular demand, the ale amblers will be revisiting Stourbridge.
They will be getting the 9.46 from Cheltenham to Worcester Shrub Hill, where we change for Stourbridge Junction and then a little metro type train into the town. DO NOT book via Birmingham as this is about double the price. At the moment via Worcester, it is £12.50 with a senior citizen’s rail card. This is a flexible ticket. Coming back, they are thinking of the 17.50 train but, of course, it is up to you when you return. Note that the trains from Worcester/Cheltenham are only every 2 hours!
