The Ale Amble for December will be visiting Birmingham, with a visit to The Christmas Market and a warming Gluhwein before heading to our usual favourites and (if its open), the Thornbridge Craft Bar. We’re looking to get the 10:01 Cross Country service from Cheltenham Station, returning on the 18:30 service. Please contact Veronica for further details including confirmation of the travel details.
We are going to Burton-on-Trent on Wednesday 16 January. As most of you will know, this is the home of the National Brewery Centre. We have heard from some CAMRA members that this museum is excellent and that there are several good pubs nearby as well. Entrance cost £11.95 adults, £9.95 concessions. Ticket prices include a guided tour and 3 beer tasting vouchers (equivalent to one pint) per adult.
We will be getting the 10.01 from Cheltenham, coming back on the 18.27. You can get a deal if you split the ticket at Birmingham or, alternatively, Tamworth. We’ll leave it to you to select the best ticket for you.

Tewkesbury CAMRA are running a bus to the 15th Derby Winter Ale Festival, which features over 400 cask ales ciders and perries.
The bus will leave the Black Bear at 10:00am, so you’ll need to make your own way there (bus 41 from Cheltenham). Expected to be back in Tewkesbury for 7:00pm.
Cost of the bus is circa £15. You can check the entry cost on the Derby CAMRA website.
To book a place, please contact Bill at firstname.lastname@example.org directly.
All local CAMRA branches have been invited for a tour round the new Stroud Brewery, on Saturday 16th March provisionally at 11:00am. North Cotswold CAMRA are organising a minibus which may have spaces available or alternatively, Stroud can be reached by bus (Stagecoach service 66), from Cheltenham.
Please contact John Crossley (email@example.com) if interested.

April’s Amble will take us to the beautiful city of Bath.
The plan is to get the 10:26 train, arriving at 11:34.
Please contact Veronica (firstname.lastname@example.org) for further details.
We are going to Weston Super Mare on Tuesday 25th June. We will be getting the 10.26 train (direct), arriving at 11.21. We shall be meeting others coming from out of the area in the Duke of Oxford, Oxford Street (which opens at 09:00). A fish & chip dinner (avoiding those pesky seagulls!) will be the order of the day. The return journey will be left up to you as there are plenty of trains (changing at Bristol TM). As a guideline, we will probably get the 18:40.
The July Ale amble will visit the pubs of Exeter.
We will depart from Cheltenham at 10:03. For booking purposes, please book your return ticket to Exeter Central (changing at Exeter St. Davids). We’ll be returning on the 17:52.
The amble starts in the Old Firehouse (New North Road) from 12:00 and will visit several pubs en-route to Exeter St Davids. The approximate distance for this amble is 2 miles, so you can get the train from Central to St Davids (for the Great Western Hotel) if you wish.
A visit to the Great Welsh Beer Festival in Cardiff. Over 120 beers and 60 ciders will be available at The National Cricket Training Centre, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.
An all-day ticket costs £7 for card carrying CAMRA members. See their website (HERE) for full details.
Please contact Veronica for further details.
Bill Hunt, from Tewkesbury CAMRA, has now opened up bookings for this annual trip to the Black Country and he is hiring a Swanbrook coach which will leave from Royal Well, Cheltenham. These trips are very interesting and fun. Bill chooses places and pubs which are not easily accessable via public transport from Cheltenham.
The time is still to be arranged and also the price (which is normally very reasonable).
