The Royal Oak has a lovely lady called Bernadette holding a quiz. She is doing this to fundraise on behalf of ‘Challenges Worldwide’.
Bernadette is participating in the International Citizen Service (ICS) which brings together young people from different countries to fight poverty. Each project is designed to fight poverty and make a lasting difference by working with local people to meet local needs. As part of the commitment, all volunteers are asked to fundraise before going overseas, in which the money raised will go towards supporting the work of Challenges Worldwide and other ICS partners.

Once again, Gren will be on the piano to lead us in seasonal (and not so seasonal) tunes.
We will be raising money for the Midlands Air Ambulance, so don’t forget to buy your raffle tickets. Any prizes you’d like to donate would be gratefully accepted.
Over the August Bank Holiday The Royal Charlton Kings will be holding their annual Royal Summer Festival and the sounds of some of the best live music in Cheltenham.
Our ale and cider bar will be here from Friday 25th onwards and we’ll be firing up the pizza oven over the weekend, plus a BBQ on Monday.
Sunday 27th at 3.30pm sees the return of our annual Dog Show. We are delighted that Murphy’s Dog Grooming is supporting and judging the event. The fun categories include ‘Waggiest Tail’, ‘Prettiest Lady’, ‘Most Handsome Chap’, ‘Best Rescue’ and ‘Top Junior Handler’. Then we have a real musical treat at 5pm when we are joined by Monkey Jam. If you still have the energy left, our famous Mega Quiz takes place at 8pm. (£2 per person, teams up to six, with big prizes on offer).
A host of magnificent musicians join us on Monday 28th from 2pm onwards, with Hambling & Lloyd, the Rhythm Slingers, Mark Walby Duo, the Steel Weasels and SlowJin. Plus, there’s plenty to entertain the little ones with children’s craft activities, Cheltenham Face Painting and the ever brilliant Music Man at 3pm.
The Summer Festival is free to attend and we are once again raising funds for our friends at Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice. So, join in the fun and help raise some vital funds at the same time.
