YUBBYFEST celebrates decade & 300 year anniversaries at UK’€™s No1 Village Inn

Two special anniversaries and a celebration of all that is good about the great British pub will take place at YUBBYFEST at The Ebrington Arms near Chipping Campden in the North Cotswolds on September 16th.

Not only will the owners, Jim & Claire Alexander be celebrating a decade of running the pub, they are also marking the 300 year anniversary of the pub’€™s first known pub license, which was registered to William Keyte, back in 1717. The Ebrington Arms has been in existence for nearly 400 years, initially as a farmhouse before operating as a pub for the past 300 or more.

2017 has been a great year for the pub as it was also awarded No 1 UK Village Inn 2017 by The Times. It has also just won Pub of the Year 2018 in The Good Pub Guide.

Ebrington’€™s old village name is €˜Yubberton which has inspired the couple to set up the Yubberton Brewing Company from which they brew their Yubby bitter, and “€˜Yubby”€™ is still the word many locals use to mean the pub itself, “€˜going up the Yubby” €™.

The couple are about to launch their second beer, Goldie, in bottles too.  Claire explained; “€œWe’€™ve had one Yubbyfest before, back in 2014 but this year is really special and we wanted to throw a free party to thanks all of our regulars for their support and to celebrate what is really a big moment in our village pub’€™s history. This country has lost a fifth of its pubs in the last decade so we’€™re really proud to be a small part of The Ebrington Arms’ story. Long may it continue.”€

The Alexanders are looking forward to celebrating the historical milestones with their regulars and everyone is welcome to the party. It kicks off at 4pm with a BBQ so families can join in the fun too.

Additional Notes:-

Claire & Jim Alexander bought The Ebrington Arms in 2007, leaving careers in London and have restored every part of the building & added on an extra dining room and letting bedrooms.

The Ebrington Arms has held two AA Rosettes for food and either won or been runner-up in the North Cotswolds Pub of the Year Awards (CAMRA) for 7 years.

The couple bought a closed pub, The Killingworth Castle, near Woodstock & Blenheim Palace in 2012, and  transformed it, putting it back on the map for locals, foodies & tourists.

They set up the Yubberton Brewing Co. to brew their own beers in 2012 (Yubby, Goldie & Yawnie) and last year started bottling their best seller, Yubby bitter.
