Ale Amble – August @ Birmingham

We will depart cheltenham on the 10.01 am train to Birmingham New Street
Return to Cheltenham is on the 18.30 from Birmingham New Street

Visit to the Great Welsh Beer Festival @ Cardiff

A visit to the Great Welsh Beer Festival in Cardiff. Over 120 beers and 60 ciders will be available at “The Depot”.

An all-day ticket costs £7, with a £1 beer token for card carrying CAMRA members. See their website (above) for full details.

For anyone going by train, then it is advised that due to the location of the event, you use the south exit at Cardiff station (near platform 8).

National Cider & Perry Trip @ Worcester Shrub Hill station

CAMRA is again offering you the opportunity to visit cider producers. During the trip you will have the chance to visit orchards, spend time with experienced producers and find out how they make their cider.

The trip takes place on 13th October 2018 and the itinerary is as follows: The bus will depart from Worcester Shrub Hill Railway Station at 11:00am and then visit Tardebigge Cider, Tutnall (where lunch is available) and Barbourne Cider, Worcester. We will then return to Worcester Shrub Hill Station for 6pm.

Please have appropriate footwear with you for cider farms and orchards. There may also be short walks during the trip.

The price for this trip (including lunch) is:- CAMRA Members £22.00; Non Members £24.00

The cost of the trip is to be paid in full when booking. Booking can ONLY be made via Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/national-cider-perry-trip-2018. For Cheltenham members interested in this trip there are direct trains to Worcester Shrub Hill from Cheltenham. Train times to follow (there is a timetable change due before the event but currently 09:46 from Cheltenham arrives Worcester at 10:19 with return possible on the 19:08 arriving Cheltenham 19:34)

Ale Amble extra! @ Broadway

By popular request, Chris Coleman is organising another trip on the Gloucester and Warwickshire Steam Railway train. The destination is the recently opened extension to Broadway on Wed 24 October. He will be getting the 10.55 train from the racecourse. Coming back, you have the choice of getting the 15.10 train or the 606 bus. If you wish to go both ways on the bus the times are – 11.15 from Royal Well and returning from Broadway at 16.48. Do let Chris know if you wish to go. Chris’s contact details are above.

Visit to the Swindon Beer Festival @ Swindon

A visit to the 32nd Swindon Beer Festival, held in the Steam Museum. The venue is a short 15 minute walk from the railway station. The Friday lunchtime session is pay on the door, from 11:00 to 15:30. Card carrying CAMRA members will get a £2 beer token on entry.

Ale Amble – December @ Birmingham

The Ale Amble for December will be visiting Birmingham, with a visit to The Christmas Market and a warming Gluhwein before heading to our usual favourites and (if its open), the Thornbridge Craft Bar. We’re looking to get the 10:01 Cross Country service from Cheltenham Station, returning on the 18:30 service. Ale Amble – January @ Burton

We are going to Burton-on-Trent on Wednesday 16 January. As most of you will know, this is the home of the National Brewery Centre. We have heard from some CAMRA members that this museum is excellent and that there are several good pubs nearby as well. Entrance cost £11.95 adults, £9.95 concessions. Ticket prices include a guided tour and 3 beer tasting vouchers (equivalent to one pint) per adult.

We will be getting the 10.01 from Cheltenham, coming back on the 18.27. You can get a deal if you split the ticket at Birmingham or, alternatively, Tamworth. We’ll leave it to you to select the best ticket for you.
