Beer Day Britain @ All over the country
Jun 15 all-day

Britain’s annual national beer day is 15th June, culminating with a “Cheers to beer at 7:00pm“.The Beer Day Britain initiative is supported by a coalition of organisations, including CAMRA.

The intention of Beer Day Britain is:

To encourage people to drink beer whether that is at the pub, a barbeque, party, picnic, or brewery tap room.
To raise the profile of beer as Britain’s national drink.
To make people proud of Britain’s beer and pubs today and of Britain’s heritage as the brewing powerhouse and its role in spreading beer around the world.
To have a fantastic time drinking and enthusing about our favourite drink.

At 7pm on June 15th we are planning a nationwide communal cheers to beer, when everyone is encouraged to go to the pub to raise a pint of real ale as part of the national ‘cheers’. Will you join in and encourage your friends and colleagues to do the same? The aim is to trend on Twitter using the hashtag #CheerstoBeers.

We cannot make Beer Day Britain a success without CAMRA members getting involved, so lets make sure social media lights up with mentions of #beerdaybritain in the weeks leading up to June 15th.

South West Region Campaigning Day
Jun 17 all-day

CAMRA South West Regional Campaigning Day Event

This year’s South West region campaigning day, which will take place on Saturday 17th June, will be hosted by the Bristol and District branch and will feature pubs located in and around Wells.  The event is scheduled to run between noon and 6pm that afternoon.

CAMRA members from all across the region are being invited to come to Wells in Somerset that day. There will be transport laid on to shuttle them between 8 pubs in and around Wells (which includes pubs on the borders of both the Bristol and the Bath branch regions). Most of these pubs are rural and in the Good Beer Guide and would benefit from CAMRA’s support. Also included would be a relatively new micropub in Wells itself.

There would be two recommended pubs in Wells itself (in easy walking distance of each other) and six more rural ones around Wells. Members will be shuttled to the rural pubs using a couple of minibuses/small coaches doing two shuttle routes, each of 25 minutes length, and each with 3 rural/village pubs on each route. Both shuttle routes would meet outside the Globe Inn in Wells. In addition, for anyone wishing to sample other pubs in the small city of Wells, WhatPub lists 13 pubs in total there currently serving real ale.

Update A number of Cheltenham members are intending to join the coach at Bristol Temple Meads, which departs from the station at 11am, (Cheltenham departure at 9:52am), returning there at about 7pm. We need to notify Bristol our numbers so could you let Veronica know ASAP if you intend to come along.

Beer Day Britain
Jun 15 @ 7:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Beer Day Britain will be taking place on 15 June 2018.

The idea is simple – for people to drink beer, ideally in a pub. The focus of the day is the National Cheers to Beer at 7pm, which entails raising a glass of beer, saying “Cheers to Beer” and posting a social media message tagged #CheerstoBeer.

The event is organised by beer sommelier Jane Peyton and supported by a coalition of brewers, pubs, retailers and beer drinkers. The aim is to encourage people to drink beer, raise its profile and celebrate Britain’s brewing scene.

15 June was chosen for the event because it is also the date that Magna Carta was sealed in 1215. The document mentioned ale by saying “Let there be throughout our kingdom a single measure for wine and a single measure for ale and a single measure for corn, namely the London quarter.”

This year the celebration will extend over the weekend to Father’s Day on 17 June, making it a perfect time to visit local pubs and breweries.
